Highlights 2020
January
2020 started off strong! Thanks to the Officevibe tool, we’re able to gauge how our collaborators are feeling and were proud to see that the engagement rate was 81%.
February
Stéphane Rochon, President and Chief Executive Officer, was named among Finance et Investissement magazine’s Top financial industry leaders in the Life insurers category. The honour even earned him special recognition for his achievements in innovation. What’s more, our work environment received Morneau Shepell’s Employee Recommended Workplace 2020 Award.
March
In mid-March, we implemented our business continuity plan with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic. Overnight, 90% of our employees began working from home and we quickly tooled them up to continue working remotely. The company demonstrated its agility from the outset of the pandemic.
April
Emma became the first platform in Canada to offer an online solution for insureds that also provides access to a Financial Security Advisor. In early April, Emma issued the first fully digital policy. We’re proud to be a strategic partner.
May
Even deep into the pandemic, Humania made leaps and bounds in product development. Prohealth, previously 5575, now extends coverage to children. We also launched the first temporary product series, T10 and T20, in partnership with Specialty Life Insurance, a Canadian leader in digital insurance distribution.
June
For the second year in a row, Humania made the ranks of Mediacorp’s 100 top small and medium employers. The annual competition spotlights many Canadian companies and provides a space to showcase their programs and innovative human resources initiatives. And we launched HuGO teleunderwriting, which offers advisors two ways for their clients to purchase insurance. We provide our advisors flexibility, which is unique in Canada.
July
In early July, we launched another product, Term 100 Life Insurance Without Medical Exam. It’s one of the few policies accessible to people who’ve had difficulty obtaining a life insurance policy or permanent life insurance. We also launched Reflex jointly with SLI, a full product suite that includes pricing and a risk selection algorithm.
August
Vacation time! After several busy months, we deserved some sunny rest and relaxation to start strong next month.
September
In September, we added the Dependent Child Life Insurance Rider to our HuGO and Emma products. Following our iterative approach, we launched a new range of products for the brokers network, in partnership with SLI.
And we proudly won the Employer of the Year award in the SME category of the 2020 Mercuriades, which highlighted the importance of our employees and their contributions to the company’s success.
October
We quickly developed our Prohealth platform to offer our business partners white-label solutions.
November
During our third product launch, in collaboration with Emma, we highlighted concept over product in developing a T100 life insurance product designed specifically for our partner.
December
At the very beginning of the month, we added the Teladoc telemedicine service to our group insurance — a timely addition to our service offering given the pandemic.
The final product launch of the year was Prohealth Income Insurance — Accident, a product for which no occupation is refused and only one health question is required.
After a hectic and memorable year for everyone, according to Officevibe, our collaborators’ engagement rate remained at 81%, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.
